Handicap Access Ramps
Our Purpose
Our mission is to provide mobility to “low income families” who may have a physical disability by installing aluminum wheelchair ramps to their homes. We hope to enrich the lives of the ramp recipients by raising the necessary funds of construction, coordinate the volunteers to perform the service and completing the installation process of the ramp.
Selection Process
The process starts with an eligible candidate that is in need of a ramp, being identified through an application process. In order to be eligible for the ramp, the recipient must live in McPherson County, the recipient must have an identifiable handicap need and meet our family income eligibility requirements. Federal Income Tax returns provided by the applicant are used to verify income.

Funding Resources
McPherson Area Habitat for Humanity receives donations from individuals, business and churches in McPherson County and this program is funded as resources are available.
Installation Process
The ramp is installed by volunteers who will coordinate with the applicant on the dates of installation.
Removal and Sustainability
The ramps are aluminum and are a “kit” that can be assembled and taken apart and reused at another site, so there is a sustainability aspect to this program. When the ramp is installed, the recipient and their family are aware that if at some point the ramp is no longer needed, the recipient agrees that it will be re-deployed for use by another household.
